On April 3, all Fisher Elementary School students took part in Bus Safety Day. The Central Valley Transportation Department and Birnie Bus organized and led the day's activities.

Students started by watching a bus safety video in their classrooms. Next, they climbed onto buses for a chance to show what they had learned. Throughout the day, bus drivers reviewed bus expectations and helped the children practice how to stay safe on the bus. Finally, drivers led a drill safely evacuating students through the bus's emergency exit.

"We'll soon be taking our Fisher students on field trips, so this is timely," said Fisher principal Jessica Bowman.

"We have to remember that not everyone rides a school bus to or from school. Our walkers and car riders may be unfamiliar with bus safety. Even for our regular riders, this was a good refresher. We want to make certain every one of our Fisher friends know to be safe on the school bus and what to do in case of a bus emergency."
