Jarvis Middle School recognized students who demonstrated April's character theme—sustainability.

To receive the honor, students must demonstrate sustainability. Sustainability is meeting our  needs without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs. It is most often associated with conservation efforts such as Earth Day or recycling drives. Student names are announced over the daily announcements. Teachers and support staff nominate students who model the month's character theme. At the end of the month, nominated students receive a certificate, gather for a group photo, and are entered in a prize drawing for a t-shirt.

"Students were nominated for showing a deep connection to their school and academic work, as well as commitment to making their school a better place to learn. ," said assistant principal Luke Manolescu.

"Students also focused on the theme and understanding of making their community a better place to live. Many nominees this month were members of our school's Green Team club where a big focus was placed on understanding recycling, picking up trash in the hallways, and identifying ways to create a more sustainable Earth for future generations! Great work by all students this month."
