On Wednesday, June 14, the CVA Wrestling Boosters accepted a $400 donation in memory of former Mohawk wrestler Michael Bellstedt. Mike/Mikey was tragically killed in a workplace accident in January 2023 in Warren, Ohio.
Present were dad Larry and second mom Barb Bellstedt and brother Troy Bellstedt, an 8th grader at Jarvis. Representing CVA were Mike's nephew and current varsity wrestler Nikolai Penree, CVA head wrestling coach Bob Bush and assistant wrestling coach Jeff Mower. Mr. Mower had been Mike's Mohawk wrestling coach prior to the merger.
At a celebration of Mike's life in May, friends and family raised the money through a 50/50 raffle. Mike's family chose to donate the proceeds to the boosters in his memory. Mr. Bush said the money would help purchase warm-ups for the wrestling team.
