CVA celebrated 71 outstanding scholars with a luncheon held at Valentino's Banquet Hall in New Hartford on Thursday, Oct. 26.
To be honored, students had to earn Principal's Honor Roll (95.0 or higher average) or High Honor Roll (90.0-94.9 average) for each of the previous four academic quarters. In all, 20 seniors, 26 juniors, and 25 sophomores earned the distinction.
CVA invited the student's parents or guardians to attend the event and share the honors. They were joined by school and district officials.
The festivities kicked off with the Presentation of the Colors by the CVA NNDCC Color Guard followed by the Pledge of Allegiance led by Senior Class President and National Honor Society President Elias Vega. CVA Principal Dick Keeler congratulated the group for the effort and for modeling the school's high bar for success. After lunch, Board of Education President Maggie Wesolowski and Superintendent Jeremy Rich each said a few words, again congratulating and encouraging the honorees.
Mr. Keeler read each name and the level of their achievement. Guidance counselors Michele DelConte and Shannon Darrow presented the honorees with certificates. Seniors Seth Boyer, Arionna Day, Ayesha Rana, and Kathryn Rodgers have earned Principal's Honor Roll for all 12 quarters of their CVA career.
Wrapping up the day, Mr. Keeler recognized Day & Read, Ilion Elks, and Mohawk Community Club for generously underwriting the cost of the luncheon.
