Two photos two students adding their names to a banner

Deacon Judd and Matthew Martinez are the latest Central Valley Thunder to join the 1,000-lb. Club. The two each lifted at least a combined 1,000 pounds in three lifts—bench press, squat, and deadlift.  They celebrated with family and friends by adding their names to the banner that hangs in the CVA fitness center.

The two seniors are just two of 11 boys who managed the feat since the program began in 2020. Eight girls have eclipsed  the 500-lb. mark.

Justin and Liz Hoffman contract with Central Valley to provide students with strength and health training in the fitness center during and after school. They work with all students, whether or not they are athletes.

Judd, a senior, lifted:

  • Deadlift:  410 lbs.
  • Squat:  335 lbs.
  • Bench Press:  255 lbs.

Martinez, also a senior, lifted:

  • DL:  405 lbs.
  • Squat:  350 lbs.
  • Bench Press:  245lbs.
